We Don't Miss Cable Too TOO Much. Really.

Cafe Drake stands happily behind our boycott of over-priced cable TV service, shedding that superfluous faux necessity months ago. Roku, Netflix Streaming and Hulu - not to mention a $20 table top antennae - have rocked our world, and when still unsatisfying, led us to evermore library books and NPR vigils.

So yeah, we can live without cable TV for the first time in our lives, but we CAN'T live without the annual drinking binge/red carpet fantasia that is the MTV Movie Awards.

True to her generous nature, Jen Lazzaro invited Cafe Drake over for an evening of televised tackiness and thrills, almost topped by her main course salad of roasted chicken atop kale and red cabbage, all dressed with a lime-cilantro dressing. And we can't forget the ultimate rich touch - giant croutons slathered with piles of Irish sweet cream butter.

Lucifer (a/k/a/ real name "Lucy") kept us perfect company throughout the awards ceremony and non-stop barrage of bubbly and white wines.
